Cross Country

  • Practices are held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings at TurkeyBrook Park.

  • Our first practice is in mid-August. Our meets run from September through the end of October. There are some optional postseason events in November and December.

  • All meets are on Sunday mornings at Central Park of Morris County in Morris Plains. The first race starts at 8:45am with the boys (age 7-8) and followed by the girls (age 7-8). The next age group (9-10) then competes and so on. The last race (girls age 12-15) typically ends by noon. However athletes may leave once their race finishes.

  • Greystone Park, Central Park of Morris County located at 1 Governor Chris Christie Drive, NJ 07950

  • Parking is available all along the main roads leading up to the course entry (reference below). Parking can fill up very fast, so make sure to give your athletes enough time to walk to the Cross Country Course. Spectators are welcome to watch at the starting line or along the fence where the finish line is. There will be plenty of coaches and volunteers to help guide you. All Coaches and runners-designated areas will be clearly marked.

Please respect Coaches-Only areas, as we need to ensure the safety of all runners.

  • There are a total of 7 regular season meets, all occurring on Sunday’s starting September 7th, through October 26th.

There is NO MEET scheduled on Sunday, October 12th.

  • First oSicial race starts at 8:45am sharp, starting with the Boys 7-8 groups, followed by Girls 7-8 groups, then progressing up in age, and split by gender. The last race of Girls 13-15 typically ends around noon. We encourage the athletes to arrive at least 30-45 minutes prior to their race start to get properly warmed-up with their team mates and coaches, as well as receive their bibs. For more information on the distances of each course (distances vary throughout the season and across age groups), check out: https://lakelandyouthrunning.org/cross-country/

  • While we encourage all athletes to cheer on all their teammates across all age groups and enjoy a Sunday morning together as a team, we understand families might have other plans. Athletes and their families are welcome to leave once their races are over and medals are given out (top 25 of each group receive a medal!).

  • As part of the Lakeland League, we compete against other participating towns in Morris County which include:

Butler, Chatham, Cranford, Denville, Hackettstown, Hopatcong, Kinnelon, Long Valley, Madison, Mendham, Montville, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany, Randolph, Rockaway, Roxbury, Sparta/Jefferson, West Milford.

  • For athletes, make sure to have your team uniform, plenty of water, running shoes and/or spikes, light snacks for energy and extra layers. For the whole family, it’s always good to bring extra layers as the Fall weather can be unpredictable; lawn chairs or picnic blankets are also a good idea.

  • Yes, race results are posted after each race and live results are available in the following link on the day of each Meet https://milesplit.live/overall?state=NJ.

Post Season

If your child wishes, there are post season events each season. We follow the USATF events calendar. We will update our website and app each season to include the dates/locations of those events.
