Our Mission
The MT. OLIVE JUNIOR ATHLETIC CLUB, established in 1976 includes the MT. OLIVE JUNIOR TRACK and FIELD and the MT. OLIVE JUNIOR CROSS-COUNTRY programs. The CLUB is open to children (ages 5-14 years), whose parents and/or guardians are residents of the TOWNSHIP of MT. OLIVE.
The CLUB'S fundamental and primary objective and principle is for the youth of the township to enjoy and have fun as they learn and develop the basic skills of running, throwing, and jumping.
The CLUB endorses, supports, and encourages children of all gender, place of birth, color, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, economic status, and mental/physical abilities to join and participate in our programs.
All children will compete at levels comparable to their capabilities. As each athlete achieves a level of proficiency in the various events and disciplines they will advance to levels of a greater competitive nature. Coaches will never, nor will parents/guardians force a child to compete at a level of competition that would endanger the athletes mental/physical well-being. Nor will coaches or parents/guardians force a child to practice beyond the context of specified guidelines as set by the coaching staff.
The CLUB will promote positive social behaviour, especially considering the number of participants from both genders. The CLUB endorses , encourages, and will teach respect for all athletes, regardless of their physical capabilities. The CLUB will not tolerate any form of negative behaviour by the coaches, parents/guardians, and athletes.
The CLUB will promote. encourage, and endorses fair-play and good sportsmanship. Techniques capable of injuring or incapacitating an athlete will never be taught.
The CLUB endorses and demands all participants to congratulate all athletes performances regardless of time or place finished.
The CLUB endorses only positive and constructive criticism of an athletes performance. Negative criticism will not be tolerated.
The CLUB is for the youth of the Township of Mt. Olive. Our emphasis is on performance, not winning. All coaches and volunteer's endeavour and strive to make each child an accomplished runner while they enjoy and have fun learning the basic skills to achieve their goals and goals set by the coaching staff. In accomplishing these goals the entire staff and organizers recognize and do not lose sight that every child has different sets of priorities when they join the CLUB . The CLUB is extremely proud of each athletes accomplishments. More importantly, the CLUB is elated for their academic accomplishments.
Running is an art and skill that can be used for a lifetime. Through competition and social interaction the child can develop a more positive mental and physical self-awareness. These values are a key for a lifetime of happiness and joy. The CLUB in the process of instructing the athletes in making them an accomplished runner and achieving specific goals and priorities look forward to their future accomplishments in running and academia at the high school level and beyond.
